This and That

Literally.  Hahaha.  Today was a slightly less manic Monday than usual!  I felt ultra-productive as I got the kitchen and family room cleaned up first thing after the kids left for school this morning, and then headed on out to the store after getting the rest of us dressed.  Okay, scratch that.  I got myself dressed and left Thing One and Thing Two to their own devices.  The result?  Jane decided to do some pattern-mixing and Alex opted to stay comfy all day long.

Hahahahaha.  {And in case you're wondering, this is Alex in the middle of saying "SMILE!" because that's what he says whenever I whip out a camera and tell him to smile.  Hahahaha.}

We hit up the paint store first -- gotta take advantage of 30% off sales at Sherwin Williams -- and then skedaddled on over to Costco just in time for samples to be rolled out and when we were finished with our shopping an hour later, I decided we might as well make a lunch date out of it!  Haha.  Alex and Jane are never ones to turn down some pizza and berry smoothie.

Once home, I got some more cleaning done and a little scripture study in while Alex napped and Jane watched Paw Patrol.  All in all, it was a banner day!  The kids came home from school and did all their chores and assignments after I dangled the bribe of pool time over the heads and Family Home Evening went off without any major hitches.  Which is a pretty rare occurrence and thus merits mentioning.  Hahaha.  For my lesson tonight, I gave the kids the "Prayer Rocks" I painted for them this weekend and let everyone have a turn pretending to use them as a reminder to say their prayers in the morning and at night.  {They'll put the rock on their pillow, so that when they lay down at night they'll hit their head on it and remember to say their prayers.  Then, they'll put it on the floor next to their bed so that when they wake up in the morning and get out of bed, they'll step on it and be reminded once again to say their prayers.  I remember getting some kind of a "prayer rock" like this one I was a kid in Primary.  Although, the ones I painted are MUCH prettier.  :) Hahaha.}

Scott took the older ones to the pool after we finished FHE while I got the little ones in bed and that  was basically our day!  And as for those of you who are dying to know what paint color I picked up at the store this morning, wonder no more!  I think we're going with Elephant's Breath.  At least for the kitchen and front hall/family room.

And to close, a couple more pictures for lagniappe:

 How adorably cute is THAT?  Jane when she's 100.

 And Sophie.  That girl will NEVER be lacking in self-confidence.  Hahaha.  :)

That sounds like a super productive day. And swimming is our summer lifesaver too. I love the tiring effect it has on children.
