Today was one of those days where bedtime was the best time of the day. And, consequently, it couldn't come fast enough -- for so many reasons. But mostly because nothing warms my heart more or erases my aggravations faster then seeing those sweet little babes of mine all tucked up in slumberland.
The house may be a mess {a really big mess thanks to no chores being done for two days in a row}, but there are no regrets on my part for the decision to take them all to the pool this afternoon anyway. Because nothing wears a kid out more than the sun and the water. Especially when they're already so, so tired. Once we got back from swimming, dinner was a hard-scrabbled hodgepodge of cereal, toast, and anything else leftover or viable and then it was straight off to bed starting with the youngest and working our way up to the oldest. {It was only 6:30 at this point, but Lover Boy had boycotted his nap and was in dire need of some sleep.} One by one, I got them down and then -- after reading to Ethan -- I went back to check on everyone and discovered that every last one of them was already asleep (minus Ethan, of course). It was just what this summer time party house needed. Tomorrow is looking brighter already. :)
Hahahahaha. Asleep on the floor using his spiderman pillowcase as a sleeping bag. He likes to mix things up. Sleeping in a bed just gets so boring. Hahaha.
