{My favorite snapshot from the day -- featuring an HILARIOUSLY drawn facial expression on Grace's Father's Day card for Scott.}
Get ready for a photo essay! Hahaha. I got a little snap happy while taking pictures of our Father's Day celebration, and I just couldn't edit it down anymore. Because when everyone is acting like they're one big happy family, you've got to document it, right??? Haha.
Believe it or not, despite the happy scene up above, our morning actually started out a bit shaky with son #1, and I was starting to worry that this year would be a repeat of last year. Thankfully, we got through sacrament meeting and all of church without anything worse than a couple of kids out in the hall, so really that alone would have made it a banner day! With Scott staying after church for a meeting, we had the PERFECT opportunity to hang up the sign that Jane colored earlier this week {and already showed him} and wrap up the gifts that I bought for the kids to give to Scott. While setting up our offerings, each of the kids added their personal touch with the cards they made in Primary today and voila! -- I unintentionally set the stage for making Scott feel SUPER guilty for failing me on Mother's Day. {His words not mine.}
Setting things up so very carefully.
{The funniest thing of all about this display is the card that Grace found at Target for me to give to Scott. I forgot to get a close up of it, but she found it HILARIOUS, and it really left me wondering if she truly got what the card was trying to say: "You and me sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G ... I'd suggest doing more, but we're in a tree." Hahahahaha.}
For some incomprehensible reason, the kids were really into wearing Alex's superhero undies on their head while all this preparation was going on, and you can still see some of that evidence in a few of these shots I tried to take while waiting for Scott to get home.
The triumphant arrival of the Pater Familias!
And the obligatory group shot.
{Also? They've been really into living long and prospering thanks to a Studio C sketch about some trekkies. Hahaha.}
Once our Father-and-children photo shoot had exhausted itself, the kids eagerly ran to grab their cards and smothered Scott with their affection. After Scott finished laughing over my card, Alex ran to get one of the gifts we got him and made us all laugh as he obediently answered Scott's question of "What's this buddy?" with a prompt "it's a Mr. Incredible shirt." Hahaha. Luckily, Target was selling its same slew of Father's Day fare as last year and we were able to find him a Mr. Incredible shirt that actually fits him for this year!
Father of the Year -- kindly doling out the candy that was given to him in one of his cards so that each of the kids could have a treat. :)
His last, and "biggest," gift he got was a stroke of inspiration that came to me earlier in the week. For those of you who don't know, Scott is a lover of chips. Pretty much any kind of chips. The idea of getting a bunch of different "gourmet" flavor options sounded like the PERFECT thing for "the kids" to give to Scott. So, after a trip to TJ Maxx a few nights ago yielded a jackpot of variety, I promptly bought a ton and hid them until today.
Because he's all that and a box of chips. Hahahaha.
The rest of our Father's Day was rather drama-free, which in my book is the best gift a parent could ask for! Between moderately-behaved children, a breathtakingly gorgeous wife, a box of chips, and the World Cup -- Scott is having the best Father's Day ever! Hahahahahaha. Thank you and goodnight.
{Jane was rather tickled yesterday as she was brushing my hair to announce that my hair is black AND blonde. Hahaha. Even funnier is the fact that she thinks it's the "black" part that has been dyed that color. Hahahahaha. Clearly it's time for a hair appointment. :) }

Grace definitely picked out a winner of a card at the store. Haha. :)
And whichever drew the card in the first picture did a great job on the facials. :)
