Twelve years ago today, I made the best decision of my life. Although Scott would self-deprecatingly say that HE is the lucky one, I can assure you that I most definitely got the better end of this deal. {Like seriously -- I did.} He helps me to be the best version of myself and I am thankful for him each and every day.
30 April 2014
{The girls thought this one looked creepy because Scott is looking at the camera, but I still think it's overall mostly sweet.}
The day was low-key {or as low-key as it can possibly get when there are 5 kids running amuck and the house is decending into shambles}, but we did manage an obligatory gift exchange and our now annual trying-on-of-the-wedding-dress for the girls. The little ones fought to help open our gifts and they mostly won out.
{Look at that cute little face.}
For my gift this year, I kind of cheated. I actually bought this roller-ball of perfume {which I've been obsessing over since I smelled a sampling of it in a Nordstrom catalog that came in the mail a few weeks ago} for myself when I saw it at the Kate Spade outlet last week and told Scott he could just wrap it and give it to me for our anniversary. As much as he protested the lameness of such an idea, he agreed for today to do it since it's the middle of the week and he hasn't had a chance to do anything else yet. {He would like the record to show that he is not usually such a typical male}. It's probably for the best that I got it for myself, anyway, rather than having dropped major hints for Scott to pick it out. Because I think I may have already OD-ed on the smell. And then I would have felt REALLY bad about coercing Scott into getting it. Hahahaha. {I do still like the smell -- just a little goes a LONG way.}
In addition to these wrap-able gifts, I decided that a makeover of sorts is in order for our bedroom and tacked that onto the Anniversary tab as well. Between Target and Home Goods, I managed to find some new bedding that is a bit lighter and more summery looking and I finally got around to putting some pictures in a couple of frames that I had bought on clearance way back in the fall. I'm still working on the final arranging of our room, but it's already looking SO much better!
I still need to get rid of that bookshelf in the corner -- the scale and color just doesn't look right in the room...
... and I really want to find "new" {and not so matchy-matchy} nightstands.
I haven't decided on the perfect spot for these outtakes from our engagement pics just yet.
All in all, it's been a nice little day. Even if it hasn't been ALL that different from any other day of the week. Life is good. To end, I give you a bridal fashion show with the girlie bugs! Enjoy. :)
{Lover Boy wanted in on the action, too. Thankfully, no dresses or trains were harmed in the process.}
The End.

That is a really fun tradition to have your girls try on your wedding dress! My anniversary was Monday, but Jeff was (still is) on a business trip. I took the kids out to Chick-Fil-A. Not much of a celebration, but hey! I didn't have to cook dinner. :)
the new bed looks so fresh and so clean clean... :)
and the girls look so sweet trying on your wedding dresses. like little angels.
happy anniversary you two!
That is a fun tradition of trying on the dress. Your bedding looks peaceful and beautiful. That picture of Scott kissing your cheek made me laugh out loud. Miss you and your wonderful family!
Congratulations! Love your traditions. Hey, FYI, if you scroll up to the top of your blog - the published view - there is a search field. You can enter a search word/phrase and it will search through ALL of your posts, including the text within the post! I just discovered that recently. The other way to search your posts is in "posts" view, there is also a search field that will search the text along with the labels and titles.
