Ladies and gentleman, Grace's life dream is about to come true! Maybe. Hahaha. I finally set up our "trial run" with having a dog and Grace is over the moon. Some friends of ours from church/our neighborhood are going out of town right when school is out and we will be dog-sitting their Golden Doodle {Golden Retriever/Poodle mix, for those not in the know} for a week and a half in June. This trial run will hopefully prove one of two things -- either that Grace and the rest of the kids will recognize there is NO WAY we can handle having a dog at this stage of our life right now because dog-sitting was way too difficult or that we actually really CAN handle it because it was so much fun and we ALL ended up LOVING having the dog around! Because clearly there is no middle ground. Hahaha. Seriously, though -- the worst case scenario would be a bad case of split votes!
Due to this fabulous-to-her-news, Grace was excited to show me her school library book this morning:
"That is so great!" I said, "Way to take initiative and be an agent -- acting for yourself and not waiting to be acted upon. I like that you're being proactive!" "Huh?" She said, "What does that even mean?" "I've just never seen you check out a book like this before. I think it's great that you're doing research and learning about dogs so you'll be ready for whenever you get one," I replied. "I always check out books like this," she responded with exasperation, "but I usually leave them at school. I only brought this one home since we're really doing the trial run, now, and we might get a dog!"
So there you have it, folks. Come June, Grace will be ready for the trial of her life! Hahahaha.

I love golden-doodles!! I totally want one when we finally get a dog as well. I'll be anxiously awaiting to see how it all goes! ;)
Or, really worse case scenario, they will LOVE having a dog and mom will not! My kids are really wanting a dog, too, but we just got some baby chicks and that has placated them for the moment! Now that my baby is potty trained, I may have to relent!
Poppy...I can't figure out how to change the Jesse log in~
You will sweep less but you will want to mop more.
Slippery slope. . . :) I'm a dog lover, and like Grace, I eventually wore my parents down.
We have a goldendoodle and she is the BEST dog ever. However, before we had her we dogsat for a couple of people and I admit I hated every minute of it. Just know it's like babysitting someone else's child, who may be a little bratty at worst or at best not used to your family vibe and routine. Having your own kid (ahem, dog) is entirely different, so if you hate dogsitting don't let it completely dissuade you. :-)
