In what the kids have now come to expect as being "our tradition," we made the trek over to Kristin's house on Friday to spend Easter weekend with the cousins. Since Scott had Good Friday off of work, we pulled the kids out of school {the district had turned the holiday into a snow make-up day} and headed on over for lots of fun, family bonding, and memory-making. I think it's been amply documented that my kids LOVE being with their cousins and this weekend was no exception. :)
Overall, the kids did really well behavior-wise and even though they always fight it when it's time to leave, they didn't make as big a fuss as they have in the past and we made it home in mostly one piece. Highlights of the trip include:
- Chilling and relaxing
- Jumping on the trampoline and making up games
- A trip to the outlets {a highlight for probably me alone :)}
The girls previewing their Easter dresses I picked out while at the outlets. Jane ended up doing a last minute switch for the real day when she saw what Grace was wearing and wanted to match.
- Fire pit and s'mores
- A glorious Easter morn
My Easter outfit courtesy of Old Navy {cardigan}, Gap via St. Vincent de Paul thrift store {shirt}, J. Crew via my lil' sis Emily {skirt}, and Ann Taylor factory outlet {necklace}.
Cousin Crew
- Easter baskets
The Easter bunny even got Scott a present -- a new headband to wear in his upcoming Spartan Race.
- Another Easter egg hunt
Alex and Jonah were cracking me up with trying to give each other bunny ears for the picture.
BFFs to infinity and beyond!
Seriously -- do you know how many shots I have IDENTICAL to this one from years past of these two?? Grace can't pose like a normal human being to save her life! Hahaha.
And they're off!
- Absolutely gorgeous weather all weekend long
- And a relatively painless drive home
Jane conked out almost immediately. She was so excited about being able to use her new sunglasses for the drive home and they must have helped create the perfect mood lighting for her to fall asleep. Either that or she was EXHAUSTED from all the late nights and cousin fun. Hahaha.
And then there was Lover Boy -- fast asleep with his new little spider man plugged in his mouth. Hahaha.
Seriously so out!
And that was that. It was a lovely weekend. Now that we're back to reality, however, it feels like my To Do list is a mile long! Wish me luck on the following for this week:
- Getting loads and loads of LAUNDRY done
- Convincing the children to do their chores
- Finally putting that quilt in the mail
- Making some more bread
- Going grocery shopping
- Doing some more yard work
- And getting back on track with Operation "Getting Clean in 2014"
