Anxiously Engaged in a Good Cause

Years from now, when Ethan is grown and on his own, I'm almost certain that the phrase that will continue to ring on in his ears more than any other will be "FIND A PURPOSE!"  Hahaha.  It's probably the number one thing he hears from me.  Unless he is "anxiously engaged in a good cause" -- or in other words occupied with some kind of project that gives him a purpose -- he pretty much can't handle life.  He starts unraveling at the edges and the end result is a sputtering explosion of antsy energy.  But give this kid a project and he is locked in.  His single-minded focus, determination, and tenacity are some of my favorite things about him.

 Jane's YouTube Channel Plan

When he spent the afternoon yesterday doing some planning and research for Jane's YouTube channel, I was thrilled that A.) it gave him a purpose for the day, and B.) it appears to be giving him a purpose for the entire summer!  Hahahaha.  He has seriously planned out the next three months, with 3 videos a week, having a set schedule of:  recipes on Monday, crafts on Wednesday, and science experiments on Friday.  However, I didn't realize the EXTENT of his preparations until this evening when I found the calendar on his desk and discovered that he's already printed out the first couple weeks' worth of activities, complete with supply lists and instructions!  Hahaha.  I love it!  This kid has found his purpose!  He just might have a future in producing.  ;)

Now, let's just hope that Jane will remain cooperative throughout the summer as she puts Pinterest (and Ethan) to the test!  Hahahahaha.

I want to be part of this project. I'd love to be this focused about things. What a great gift to have
