When Pigs Fly

This past weekend was a blast!  On Saturday, we participated in our very first full-family-affair race day.  An added bonus was having Hannah come over to run with Ethan and Grace, and then Kristin and Jonah came over Saturday evening to spend the rest of the weekend with us, too.

Originally, I had planned on running the 10K with Ethan, but once Ethan caught wind that the cousins would potentially be coming over to run with us, he opted to do the 5K with Hannah and Grace instead.  That left Sophie behind to run with me, and then later in the day, the younger kids got to run in their very own kiddie races as well.  It made for a long day -- and by the end, my two bookend boys were losing it -- but all in all, it was a lot of fun and we created some awesome memories.  There's nothing quite like a race day environment, and it has me itching to run some more.

Finish Times -- Ethan (26:15), Grace (27:48), Hannah (28:24), Sophie (36:39), and me (37:05)

Poor Scott drew the short straw and stayed behind with the little ones while us older ones were running the 5K, and I think Isaac did his best to make things as difficult as possible for him.  Hahaha.  Let's just say that Isaac is NOT a fan of being contained or constrained and he especially doesn't like having to stay stuck in a stroller when all he wants to be able to do is run around, too.

Thanks to the timing of things -- the 5K was in the morning and the kiddie runs were in the afternoon -- we ended up staying for most of the day at the race, and as a result, Shoo Shoo missed his regular nap.  He ended up falling asleep in my arms during the last 2 minutes of our walk back to the car at the end of the day and then fell back asleep for the rest of the drive home.  So, basically, he got just enough sleep to recharge his battery and ended up wired for the rest of the evening (hamming it up for the kids and cousins) and then fell asleep on the floor in the family room around 11 o'clock that night.  Hahaha.  Poor little lamb was all tuckered out.

Diaper Dash Time!

He REALLY enjoyed his goodie bag at the end.  That chocolate milk was a hit!  Hahaha.

And that was that!  The kids had a blast hanging with cousins for the rest of the weekend, made a couple of music videos, and stayed up WAY too late each night.  Kristin went back home with Hannah and Jonah on Sunday evening, and once they left, we wound the weekend down with extra early bedtime for all the kids.  The perfect end to the perfect weekend!  Hahahaha.  Stay tuned for an extra special sugar bear post tomorrow...  :)

Alex thinks he finished first in his race...

...and Jane finished second in her heat.

 They loved it!
