L-O-V-E

Two things you may not know about me are: 1.) I love words and 2.) I love Conference.  So perhaps it's no coincidence that the VERY first time I knew I loved Scott was on Sunday, October 7, 2001 during the afternoon session of General Conference.  As we listened to Robert F. Orton's talk, I felt the Spirit speak directly to me as Brother Orton said, "Webster defines love as the 'unselfish, loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another; an affection based on admiration, benevolence or common interests' (Longman Webster English College Dictionary, overseas edition)."  I remember thinking -- based on that definition, I totally love Scott!  Since we'd only been dating for about a month, I figured it was probably a bit too soon to let him in on what I was thinking, but it didn't take very long before the whole "first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage" came to pass.  Hahaha.

Yesterday marked 15 years since we tied the metaphorical knot.  And to really knock things out of the park, all 6 kids decided to come down with that stomach bug by the end of the weekend.  Boo!  Haha.  We had plans to go out Saturday night, but after Jane and Ethan hopped on the sick train over the course of Friday night/early Saturday morning, and then Grace joined the fray as well on Saturday afternoon, we decided we should probably take a rain check on any real plans and instead just ran over to get cupcakes at a local shop and then finished our romantic afternoon off with a stop at the Kroger for a grocery trip.

We also exchanged gifts with our cupcakes and Scott totally put me to shame with his gift-giving efforts!  Since we had just forked over a ton of money to replace the engine on the van, we decided it would probably be more prudent to go the "creative" route for our presents this year and Scott created a masterpiece that has me wondering if he's missed his true calling in life.  Move over Lin-Manuel Miranda -- Scott is coming after all your Tony's!!  Hahahaha. While I framed the definition of "LOVE" that started it all, Scott rewrote several of the songs from "Hamilton" to be all about ME and our 15 years together, starting from the very beginning.  He got help from my siblings with details and info about our life growing up, and he seriously outdid himself with cleverness in his reworked lyrics!  I was tickled pink and the kids were as well.

Thanks to my little sis Amy for helping with the graphics!

What can I say?  Scott is literally the best.  I'm beyond blessed to have him.  We all are.  :)

What a nice present! That is nicer than anything he could have bought. (Why am I tempted to say/type "boughten"? That is not a word.) Congrats on your anniversary!
