So, apparently the kids are responding better to sticks than carrots these days, because dangling the reward of getting paid allowance each week hasn't been enough to get them to do any of their basic responsibilities for the last LONG while. Instead, this weekend I whipped out the "stick" of cancelling cable and Netflix to threaten them with, and it has worked like a charm! Hahaha. Not that I haven't made the threat before, but this time I think they recognized that I absolutely meant it. I told them they had one week to prove to me that they can handle following our House Electronic rules completely as well as getting their basic responsibilities done. Color me surprised, when they all pulled it together yesterday and today with almost perfect results on the checklists! Grace in particular continues to be the ever-surprising surprise, with her perfect completion of the chart thus far which includes the assignment of UNLOADING THE DISHWASHER, which I kid you not I don't think she's ever really done. Water makes her skin itchy, you know. Hahaha. I even saw her organizing the tupperware drawer last night as she did her job. Needless to say, I'm thrilled with the results of my threat. :)
