Cookies and Cocoa

Last Saturday, the kids {minus Ethan} and I took in a double feature.  We hit up "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" in the early afternoon, then took a break to eat at the Target next door, before running right back over to the movies for a "Cookies and Cocoa" tailgating event that our Stake was hosting in conjunction with the release of the documentary, "Meet the Mormons."  Scott met up with us at that point and brought along the Brown Butter + Sea Salt Chocolate Chip cookies that I had made before leaving for our first show, and believe me when I say these cookies are the bomb diggity dot com!  I kid you not that I probably could have eaten the entire batch myself --  which is why it's for the best that I had Scott bring them for us to share. :)

Unfortunately we missed out on the cocoa, since it arrived after we had already gone in to see the movie, and was all gone by the time we got out.  But STILL.  I think it was a memorable outing for all involved!  Hahaha.  {Ethan, by the way, was EXTRAORDINARILY upset that we did these things without him.  He was on a weekend campout with the scouts, though, so I'd like to think things evened up in the end.  Hahahahaha.

Scott managed to capture some lovely shots of our little ragamuffins before the movie started, which, by the way, was quite a circus with these little rascals.  Especially since Alex was a train wreck with no nap, and they were all up way too late the night before.  AND, we had already sat through an entire movie just a couple of hours before.  All in all, though, I really loved "Meet the Mormons," and I'm glad we brought the kids.  In the parts that they were actually paying attention, I think they really liked it, too.  I was surprised to hear from all of the girls afterwards that their favorite story shared was the last one -- of the missionary mom who had overcome some really big struggles in her life.  It was my favorite, too, and really touched my heart.  I think it touched theirs as well.  Jane was paying attention to her enough, that, in one part, when the mom was crying while telling her story, Jane said, "I think she's crying because she feels the Holy Ghost."  How tender is that??  It's always nice to know when the kids are feeling something.  :)   We'll just have to watch it again when it comes out on Netflix!
