He's here! One week ago right now, the action was just starting to get a roll on. A full "birth story" will be forthcoming, but for now -- I just wanted to post some pictures and first impressions. :)
Isaac Gordon -- 12 hours old
- He is TINIER than I was expecting! With Alex being so big (8 lbs 15 oz), and my belly being just as HUGE this time around, I thought for sure Isaac would be at least a 9 pounder, seeing as to how he was 2 days overdue whereas Alex came a week early! At 8 lbs 1 oz, and with a MUCH smaller head than I thought he would have, he just seems super small. Yet, oh so cute!
- At first sight, he reminded me of Sophie. And Alex. Who also reminded me of Sophie when he was born. :) As the days have gone by, though, I see Ethan's baby looks thrown in the mix as well. All in all, he DEFINITELY looks like "one of ours."
- The kids think he cries all the time, but they have NO idea what crying all the time sounds like! {*cough* SOPHIE *cough* *cough*} Hahaha. The truth of the matter is, he reminds me of Ethan as a baby -- he's fine so long as he's being held. Hopefully, UNLIKE Ethan, we'll be able to get him to take a pacifier eventually. So far, he will only take our pinky finger. And that is just not sustainable.
- He's got a dimple! Two actually. Although they're not quite symetrically placed, they are adorable. And you know my theory on people with dimples -- they have unfair advantages in this world. Hahaha.
- Having a baby in the middle of the night {he was born at 2:02 AM} is rough for sleeping purposes. I was up ALL night long that first night, and it's been nearly impossible to catch up on those hours in the week since he was born. Even though I've been SUPER tired, I am loving this little newborn phase so much that I don't want to wish any of the time away -- even if it WOULD mean more sleep at night. {Although, ask me again in another week or two if I feel the same way. Hahaha. :) }
- And finally, when he cries and gets really mad, he makes this squeaking sound that is hiLARious and adorable, all at the same time. It has earned him the nickname of Squeaker. Or Squeaker McSqueakens if we're being extra formal. Hahahaha. His angry cry also exposes his upper {sort of prominent} front gums, giving him a buck toothed kind of look, which is actually REALLY, really cute -- despite how it sounds :)
