A Parade of Costumes {and Pictures}

Those Kids!

Even though Saturday was a PACKED day, trick-or-treating couldn't come soon enough for these kids!  Especially for the Lover Boy.  All day long on Saturday, he kept asking if it was time to go.  Haha.  The time finally came, and after a delicious dinner of Taco Soup, I gave the kids the go-ahead to change into costume and get ready for the night.  Ethan scrounged up his Harry Potter costume from a couple of years ago, while Alex made a last-minute change to Ironman.  The girls stuck with their church party looks, and after making them pose for pictures for MUCH longer than they would have liked, they were on their way!  Hahahaha.

Ethan as Harry -- minus the glasses which have been lost and/or broken since Halloween 2013

Grace as Spiderman -- she "painted" up her face, once again, with red marker and eyeliner.

Sophie as Dorothy -- her makeup was done courtesy of Grace.

Jane as Rainbow Dash -- of which she was REALLY worried that people would laugh at.

 Alex as Ironman -- and I love how you can see his eyes staring through the mask.  Hahaha.

Group shots with five kids are always an interesting experiment, but I think there are some real winners out of this bunch!  They were all SUPER excited about the big day, and could hardly stay still, but I think I captured the essence of the holiday to record for posterity's sake.  :)

These close-up shots are my favorites.  :)

All their facial expressions are just gold.

Hahahahaha.

After the forced photo shoot, I tagged along to photograph the trick-or-treating in action, while leaving a bowl of candy on the front stoop.  Uncle Dodo (my brother Freddie) was kind enough to tag along, too, and the kids were basically in heaven.  Seriously -- Halloween is the best kid holiday ever.  :)  Our neighborhood is overrun with children, and it was so fun to see everyone running all around and knocking on doors.

{This was after Jane ran back to the house, practically in tears, because she thought everyone would laugh at her costume.  I don't know where all this was coming from, but Scott took her by the hand and convinced her that everything would be fine.  :)  }

I love these action running shots!  :)

We ran into some of Ethan's friends, and I just had to get a picture of their clever costumes.  :)

These two!  :)

The older three kept running off ahead, and while Alex and Jane were not quite as fast, it was a LOT more difficult for me to keep up with them this year thanks to my nine month pregnant belly!  Hahahaha.  Thankfully, Scott and Freddie were both there to help keep tabs on children.

{Fall!}

Once we circled back around to our street, I was surprised to see that Alex and Jane were ready to go on home with me.  Haha.  I thought for sure they'd put up a fight and want to keep going with dad and Dodo, but they seemed happy enough with their meager buckets, so I wasn't going to discourage THAT.  :)  Once home, they sorted out their candy -- luckily they both know what they're allergic to -- and I let them each pick out a few things to eat right then and there.  I knew it would be a tough sell to try and get them in bed before the big kids were even back from trick-or-treating, but I did my best, and they managed to make it upstairs and start our routine by the time everyone was home.

In the end, the kids were in bed at relatively decent hours, even if they WERE all surfing a sugar high for the REST of the weekend.  Hahaha.  Oh Halloween -- I love you and I hate you.  All at the same time.  It will be extra fun to see how the night plays out NEXT year, with 6 children crashing from the sugar fall-out...  :)
