A Hoppy Easter

So now that the cat's out of the bag, you'll understand why I haven't been so great at blogging lately!  Haha.  I have been SOOOOO tired this time around, and by 8 or 8:30 each night, I'm pretty much ready to go to bed.  I've been feeling sickest in the late afternoon/evenings, and being tired makes it worse.  Therefore, staying up late -- after the kids are all FINALLY in bed -- has not always been worth it to put up a post.  :)

BUT, I can't let our Easter go by without documenting something about it.

{Waiting to come down and see what the Easter bunny brought!}

Having Easter and Conference weekend combined made it extra fun this year.  :)  As per tradition, we held our semi-annual Conference breakfast on Sunday morning, and as per tradition, I totally forgot to take any pictures of the fun and food we had with the families we invited over this time!  Oh well.  I was just glad I was feeling better Sunday morning, because Saturday night was the WORST.  I was feeling so sick that I pretty much had a mini-breakdown when I realized at 8:30 {once I had finally gotten everyone to go up to bed} that we were out of eggs and I needed them to make the cinnamon and orange rolls for the next morning's breakfast.  I seriously broke down crying and texted Scott {who was at the Priesthood session} about my dilemma and how much I didn't want to run to the store to get eggs when it would end up making me have to stay awake EVEN LATER when I was already so tired.  And sick.  It was at this point that I started to question my sanity in attempting to keep up our Conference tradition considering my situation.  Scott came to my rescue and offered to pick up eggs and Rhodes cinnamon rolls on the way home, and I went straight up to bed.  Whew!  Crisis averted.  But scratch that.  I couldn't go straight up to bed just yet, because I still had to get the Easter baskets set out and ready to go first!  {As a side note, I really enjoyed the hodge podge of baskets that the kids scavenged up this year.  Hahaha.}  Laying everything out was the only enjoyable portion of my evening, and after I was done, I was more than happy to go to bed.  :)

I was really trying to avoid sugar overload this season, so they ended up getting more stuff than normal to compensate for the fact that I knew they would be missing their candy.

Mr. Freeze was a hit!

And these Under Armour sweatshirts I found on clearance at the outlets were a mega-hit!!!  Apparently this is the "cool" thing to wear at school these days.  :)  Hahaha.

Sophie is always up for some bling...

And the Easter bunny knew JUST what Jane would want.  Hahahaha.  She got two pairs of pretend glasses in her basket and she LOVES them.  She's worn a pair pretty much every day, and was devastated yesterday when her favorite pair (not shown here) were broken when she tripped and fell outside.

After the baskets were torn into, we were able to get everything ready to go for our Conference Breakfast, and I was SOOO happy that there was only mild grumbling about the lack of homemade cinnamon rolls.  Especially since there were no orange rolls at all, and I knew that those were Grace's favorite.  Nevertheless, we enjoyed our breakfast with friends, and then once everyone had left, we settled down to enjoy Conference.  And we kind of really did!  I would have to say that, as a whole, this was the best behaved and most cooperative Conference viewing from the children that we've ever had.  Even if they didn't even really touch any of the file folders that were so lovingly made beforehand.  Hahaha.  Oh well.  I think the novelty had worn off by Sunday.  NEXT time around, I'll make sure to wait and pull them all out ONLY for Conference.

 {Part of the peace may be contributed to Grace falling asleep with about 30 minutes left in the morning session.  She says she was up at 3 that morning and couldn't fall back asleep because birds were chirping outside her window.  Hmmmm.  I'm thinking it was more likely the excitement over the anticipated Easter basket.  Hahaha.}

Following the morning session, we held an Easter egg hunt in the backyard, and by the time the afternoon session rolled around, we still had mostly cooperative behavior!  Color me surprised.  :)

Can't wait to go egg hunting!

Digging into the loot.

There's my "bright and vibrant" girl.  ;)

All in all, it was a rather nice Easter.  And this post is ending on an even nicer note for ME, because I'm done before my bedtime!  Hahahaha.  Goodnight everyone and have a pleasant tomorrow.  :)
