Saturday is a Special Day

Aaaaahhhhhhhh! Every single night this week has been hijacked by one {or more} children having massive meltdowns at bedtime.  Which is ironic considering the very thing I was planning on blogging about on Monday was how great a job Jane {at least} has been doing with her sleeping lately!  Hahaha.  At least tonight there was only one mini-breakdown by the 8 year old, which thankfully resolved rather quickly and now everyone {but Ethan} is up in bed -- even if they're not all asleep.  SO.  My plan is to knock out this blog post before it's MY bedtime tonight.  Because -- true story -- I pretty much fall asleep on the couch every night around 8:30 or 9.

Saturday's "Chore Chart" for the Tweedles.  Alex REALLY enjoyed coloring in the boxes as he finished each assignment.  Hence, the much longer list than Jane's.  :)

And now we'll head back to our regularly scheduled telling of events.  Hahaha.  Saturdays can be a little rough around these parts.  In theory, the kids all have Saturday chores that should be completed first thing in the morning, but in actuality, there is much weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth to try and make them get anything done.  And all we're basically talking about is cleaning their rooms and bathrooms.  Well, this past Saturday was practically miraculous.  For one thing, Jane {and Alex} stayed in their beds and slept ALL NIGHT LONG on Friday night.  And since I went to bed at probably 9:30 that night, I was also rested and ready for the day at the crack of dawn along with them.  :)  Scott had to take Ethan to a cross country meet super early that morning, so it was just me and the Tweedles until Grace and Sophie woke up a few hours later.

After breakfast, I devised the brilliant strategy of the checklist for cleaning up their room, and for the FIRST TIME EVER, they actually did everything on their own!   Or at least mostly on their own.  After the room was cleaned, Jane got it in her head that she was supposed to have a special date with me that day.  I'm not sure where the idea came from, but I was MORE than happy to reward such positive behavior.  :)  Once Scott and Ethan were back home, I tried to convince Jane that EVERYONE should be able to go on the date, but she was a hard sell.

In the end, we came up with a compromise.  We all drove to Orange Leaf together, but Jane and I went in first to order, and we had to stay separate while we were there.  Hahahahahaha.  I have to say that spending time with Jane is ALWAYS a treasure.  Hahahaha.  She's actually kind of hilarious.  Especially with her facial expressions when she's retelling a story about what's happening at school.

Scott and his dates enjoyed their fro-yo across the room, while Ethan vegged out at home.  I'm still quite surprised he was fine with skipping a treat, but I guess the cross country meet followed by walking all around for a food drive pick-up service project was more taxing than he expected.  :)

And here we are, almost to Saturday again!  This week has flown by.  Which -- at this stage of my pregnancy -- I'm quite happy with.  Hahaha.  Dividend Day is upon us, once again, so this weekend should be action packed as well.  :)  Until next time, toodle-loo!  Hahahaha.
