Day Four

Emotions were running high today!  Let's just say that it's a good thing we planned this "family vacation" for the end of the summer and not the beginning.  At this point, I am no longer wishing the summer would last a little longer.  The fact that next week is the last full week before school starts is fine by me!  Hahaha.

Apparently, when you mix 5 children with a lot of sugar and not enough sleep, you create 5 mega-monsters who can't handle life.  Who then cause YOUR life to be miserable for the entire day.  Well, for MOST of the day.  There were some moments of today's "Freebie" day that were fun and not fraught with fits -- such as when the kids decided to watch Freaky Friday this morning and I decided to get out of the house and run some birthday errands for Scott -- but other than that, today was pretty rocky from start to finish.

I took Jane with me on my errands this afternoon, where we hit up Barnes and Noble and Target to look for birthday gifts for our upcoming birthday boys --  Scott's birthday is this Saturday and Alex will turn 3 next Wednesday.  We were successful on both counts and after coming home and diffusing a few more fits, we happily settled down once more as the little ones watched more TV and Ethan, Scott, and I cracked open the newly purchased Seafarers of Catan expansion game.  What can I say???  We have a problem.  Settlers is seriously, seriously addicting!

{And yes, that IS Friday in the background.  The kids were happy to take on a last minute dog-sitting job for the weekend while our friends are out of town.  :)  }

Tomorrow will be our final day of stay-cation fun, and I'm really hoping that the enforced early bedtime tonight will result in happier and more loving children in the morning.  :)
