Love is in the Air

I had grand plans of blogging about Sophie's birthday party tonight, but things have been so jam-packed busy the last few days, that I haven't had a chance to edit and upload all the pictures from her big day.  So, instead, I thought I'd throw some Valentine pictures up here and call it good.  ;)

"You bring color into my life.  Happy 2nd day of Valentine!"

For those in the know, today is the 4th day of Valentine and for the last few days, I've been doing my best to shower the people I love with love.  You know -- show them the way that I feel.   Hahaha.  I kicked our festivities off on Friday with an acrostic poem Valentine for everyone and then followed each day up with a token gift.  Gifts are almost ALL of the kids' love languages, so this has suited them just fine.  Hahahaha.  With tomorrow being the Big Day, I'll have to come up with something EXTRA special, but I do have to say, that combining our 5 days of Valentine with spreading the love outwards and doing Random Acts of Kindness this year as been a really fun experience.  For pretty much everyone!  ;)

 Fun fact -- Ethan didn't even realize it was an acrostic poem with his name until after he came home from school and I mentioned it.  He just assumed the orange one was his because it's his favorite color.  Hahaha.

On the kid front, Jane was the only one up for making valentines this year.  She was so excited to turn a shoebox it unto a valentine mailbox for school this weekend, and she put her Christmas bin full of art supplies to good use with all her decorating!  Of course, nothing goes perfectly smoothly around these parts, so after a major mess-up on my part -- I totally forgot that they're not allowed to bring food or candy to school and bought a bunch of Blow Pops and craft things to turn them into "flowers" this afternoon -- we had to scramble this evening for a back up plan that would be doable in a much shortened time span.  Thankfully, Pinterest came to the rescue and we found an easy idea that only required a "quick" trip to Walgreens to buy the rest of the needed supplies.  Although, for the record -- a trip to "Mall-greens" will NEVER be quick when all 6 kids are with me and they're all on the hunt to find the perfect thing to convince me to buy.  {This evening's purchases included a calculator for Ethan, pencils and name tags for Grace, cough drops for Sophie, twistable crayons for Jane, a ninja turtle mash'em for Alex, and mini m&ms for Isaac.  Keep in mind, the only thing we went there for were balloons for Jane's valentine's.  DOH!}

Thankfully, it didn't take too long for Jane to crank out her hearts and finish up her mailbox when we came home, and all the other kids were super helpful and cooperative in staying out of the way and helping to get Alex in bed while I helped her out.  Poor Scott blew a tire while driving home from work today and ended up needing to replace both front tires in the aftermath.   As a result, he didn't get back until much later than useful, but it was a blessing that he was safe and managed to pull over to a Car-X without any accidents.  And as we both agreed, it was SO much better that it happened coming HOME from work than going into work this morning.  Anyway, all's well that ends well and I'm glad everyone is home in one piece this evening and ready to celebrate another day of love tomorrow!  :)

Super duper adorable valentines by Jane - love homemade ones. Jane and Pearce would have had a hay day decorating their boxes together, totally reminded me of the Estelle character valentines hearts book you gave us long ago- why can't I remember the proper name? We haven't gotten the valentine books out yet this year- doh! Oh and I'm totally copying the poem idea tomorrow for last min valentines for my kids - and hey - jeremy too! That'll do just fine!
