Texting with My {Almost} Teen

In two more days, we will have a teenager on our hands!  Ethan's been on a scouting high adventure trip this week, but in honor of his big birthday, I thought I'd reminisce on his early beginnings and end with his current state of being.  Because the more things change, the more they stay the same...

I may have said this before, but I could tell EXACTLY what Ethan was going to be like before he was even born.  With a name meaning "firm, constant, and strong" to live up to, he wasted no time in letting me know that he would execute those traits to a T.  The way he would KICKKICK. KICK.  me, persistently and deliberately, right in the ribs while I was pregnant, was simply a foreshadowing for the intensity and tenacity with which he would live once he was born.

That persistence is one of his all-encompassing characteristics.  Like a hammer pounding a nail, he aims to drive home his points no matter WHAT the subject may be.  For tonight's closing example, I leave you with a beginning and ending screenshot of a back and forth texting conversation from the other day, between Ethan and myself -- to give you a little taste of just how tenacious my firstborn in the wilderness is.  Feel free to marvel as he tries to convince me ONCE AGAIN that we need a new computer.  {Which is an argument he brings up at least once a day.}

{Insert two more pages worth of back and forth commentary, which I would have included but felt like it was a little too embarrassing and incriminating for Ethan, and you get the picture.  Just imagine lots of variations of him demanding we buy a new computer, with what I'm sure are convincing arguments and airtight logic in his mind, and me saying over and over again that we don't need one, we're not getting one, and stop asking.}

And there you have it!  A completely and totally different texting communication style than Grace.  Hahahaha.  I just don't know where he gets his intensity from... ;)  Hahahahahaha.

Love it😂 Savannah's middle name is Aidan, which means fire, because she was also a fiery kicker in utero and I just knew how determined and insistent she would be, and she has not disappointed. Happy almost birthday, Ethan.
