Jane's Black Eye

A family first!  Jane has been sporting a pretty gnarly shiner for the last week or so.  Last Monday afternoon, while playing on the trampoline, Jane's brow bone collided with our neighbor's head in a rousing game of ring-around-the-roses.  :(   In all honesty, I was quite relieved I had a witness to the scene -- my friend and I were chatting right next to the trampoline when it happened -- because if I were an outsider, I would be wondering what in the world was going on in our household.

Aside from the initial tears after the bump, and some more tears in the morning when she was worried that the other kids at Wacky Camp would laugh at her, she's been totally fine and pain-free.  The eye DEFINITELY looked worse before it started looking better, but now that we're more than a week out, it's almost completely healed.   The human body is pretty amazing and it's been quite an interesting science experiment to watch the progression of the bruise.  I'm sure you're all dying to see pictures of the progress as well, so here we go for the record's sake...

Day 0 {Monday June 8th}
In the beginning...

 The morning after.  I literally gasped in horror when she came down the stairs.  The eye was almost completely swollen shut and super puffy.  When I asked if it hurt, she only said that it felt weird.

Day 1 {Tuesday June 9th}

Day 2 {Wednesday June 10th}

Day 3 {Thursday June 11th}

Day 4 {Friday June 12th}

Day 5 {Saturday June 13th}

Day 6 {Sunday June 14th}

Day 7 {Monday June 15th}

Day 8 {Tuesday June 16th -- yesterday}

I didn't even bother taking a picture today because it's looking so much more back to normal.  Kind of crazy to think it went through such a progression in just one week!  Thankfully, it's been more of a cosmetic issue than anything else for her.  Here's to hoping the rest of the summer is injury-free!  :)

I've always wanted a black eye. I guess I just love drama and attention.

that picture when she is eating toast is CRAZY. This will always be a cool story for her to tell!
