I can't decide which is more exciting -- the first day of school or the last! For this crew here, it's probably a toss-up. Although considering I couldn't convince any of them to skip out on the last day so we could get started on our vacation sooner, perhaps the final day is where it's at. I tried to get some group shots before the bus that morning, but no one was super psyched, and Sophie in particular was having none of it.

It probably didn't help that the sun was shining right in their eyes, but call me a heartless mom, because I was bound and determined to get pictures regardless of their levels of cooperation. Haha. :) After seeing the older ones off on the bus, the rest of my morning was a scramble to get some last minute teacher gifts, make a run to the post office, and try to keep laundry going so we'd have clothes to pack for our trip.

By mid-afternoon I was ready to run over to the school one final time for the year, to drop off teacher gifts, take pictures of the kids WITH their teachers, and pick up the arsenal of allergy and asthma medication waiting for me in the nurse's office. And of course, I couldn't let the last day go by without recording everyone's top memories of the year.
{I went with the super simple option of boxes of chocolate from our local, small-town candy store along with heartfelt thank you cards for all that the teachers have done this year.}

i found it particularly interesting reading all their friends names, because sounds like each grade has lots of duplicates of same name. And wow! Ethan has a friend named Pierce! I don't hear that name very often. :)
and i also love how grace is found dancing in these pictures. hahahaha you go girl!!
