True Story: I actually REALLY wanted our wedding date to be May 1st. I just didn't like the way April 30th sounded. Or maybe I just didn't want an April date period. I can't even remember anymore, even though, OBVIOUSLY, it was kind of a big deal to me at the time. Hahaha. In the end, I went with a more practical approach, since my family was flying out to Utah the weekend before for my (and Scott's) graduation from BYU, and all of my little siblings were being pulled out of school for the occasion. April 30th was a Tuesday, and waiting til mid-week or later to hold the wedding would have kept them all away from home for too long. SO, April 30th it was and I actually really love the ring of it now. :)
Scott worked from home half-day today and then took the afternoon off so we could go out to celebrate our big day. It was seriously the most gorgeous day ever! We went to my favorite little downtown area and ate at the first restaurant we tried when we came on our house hunting trip here almost 2 years ago, and then -- since it's right next to my favorite trail -- we went for a leisurely stroll after eating. When our walk was done, we walked a little further up the street to a cupcake shop and enjoyed a treat before heading home.

{There were so many delicious options, I just HAD to sample a couple. :) The first I tried was a Lemon Hibiscus cupcake and it was amazing. As I was finishing up, I was kind of bummed I didn't save it for last, it was so good. And THEN, I dug into the Chocolate Mounds cupcake and I pretty much went to heaven. It was sooooooo good. Chocolate cake, coconut cream filling, vanilla icing rolled in coconut. Mmm mmmm goooood. Scott meanwhile doesn't really like cake, so he had a Root Beer Float. Hahaha. :) }
The rest of our afternoon was spent in a calendaring session for the end of the school year and the summer. I know you're all jealous. Hahahahaha. In all seriousness, though, we REALLY needed to finalize our plans for our beginning-of-summer-trip down to New Orleans, and then on to Gulf Shores! We've been promising the kids a trip to the beach for several years now, and we're finally going to deliver!! Can you believe that they've never been to a real beach before?? So sad. We'll be leaving as SOON as school is out -- literally, the second they walk through the door we're loading up and heading out -- and our first destination is my home sweet home. We're all excited to head down to New Orleans for Jacob's graduation celebration and Memorial Day weekend. Especially since we haven't been down there since 2012 when we went for Mardi Gras. After New Orleans, we'll spend a few days at the beach, and then on the return trip, we're planning on stopping in Nashville, since I'm kind of obsessed with the city {
even though I've never even been}, and Sophie -- oddly enough -- is super excited as well. Hahaha. :)
All in all it will be quite the summer vacation! And it will have to do for the entire summer, because me and my pregnant self will NOT be wanting to drive anywhere else. Luckily for the kids, we also used our calendaring session to finalize plans for what camps and summer activities they'll be able to do over the next few months, and that pretty much wraps up the rest of the summer! I think we ALL rather being busy than bored. ;)
So there you have it! The best and most productive Friday afternoon ever!!! :)

The last pic is the best - your hair is perfecto! Love that length and style on you. Your kick off the summer trip sounds like a blast - doesn't get better than doing New Orleans, gulf beach, AND NaShvile all in one time. Let the good times roll...
Yea, you look great in these pictures. Relaxed and happy. Your trip sounds funtastic!
