Over the weekend, we talked it over with the kids, and they were surprisingly excited about our suggestion to resurrect the idea of "peace points" in an effort to increase the level of respect, love, and harmony in our home. I think it's because they've been earning class "dojo points" at school, as part of a behavior management program, and they all REALLY love it, but the thought of earning some kind of big reward is a pretty enticing incentive as well. We haven't quite decided yet on just WHAT that reward will be -- or how many points the family will have to earn to get it (or even what exactly they'll need to do to EARN them) -- but Jane was excited enough that she's been asking for the last couple of days to make a chart to track our progress.
This afternoon, while I was trying to make dinner -- and Jane was supposed to be finishing her homework -- she decided to roll out the banner paper and get to work on our Peace Points Poster. And work it she did. She finished up after dinner and I could tell she was super proud of and excited about her idea and how well her vision played out on the paper. After "helping" me to hang it in the hall, she headed up to bed without any resistance, and was asleep within minutes of finishing her nightly reading. I think she should earn 50 peace points just for that, don't you think?? Hahahahaha.
Here's to hoping that earning those peace points will be motivating enough to whip these kids' attitudes into shape. ;)
{Unrelated, but my Costco lunch dates today were just too cute not to post about.}
Peace out! Hahahaha.
