New Year, New Goals

So a few days ago, I stumbled across this awesomely insane idea (on social media) to run 2,015 miles in 2015.  When I first read about someone planning to do it, I thought "Wow!  That's an awesome idea! How cool would THAT be?"  {And to clarify, she was planning on splitting the mileage with her husband, but doing the bulk herself}.  But then, the other day on Facebook, when I saw an infographic breaking down the 2,015 in 2015, I realized that apparently, this idea is a thing.  And not just some isolated incident from that one girl I follow on Instagram.  Hahaha.

The infographic broke down the miles using a variety of ways to accomplish the task -- solo, as a pair, and even a team of 3; walking and/or running -- and after taking a look at exactly how many miles that would equal out to on a daily basis, I could feel myself getting hooked.  After talking to Scott about it, and getting kind of excited about the idea of doing it, I decided that THIS kind of goal would be the PERFECT external motivation to get me moving more each day and back into running.  Historically speaking, winter is usually the time when my running peters out, and with my knee issues after the last half marathon, I haven't really run much at all.  Because let's just be real -- I don't like being out in the cold, and treadmill running is not the funnest.

Since Scott is also wanting to get back into running, I thought this sounded like an awesome goal for the two of us to work on together this year! Scott was intrigued enough by the idea to agree to the challenge, and today marked Day 1 of our 2015 journey.  :)

Here's the break down, in case anyone is wondering:
Solo -- roughly 5.5 miles a day
As a team -- approximately 2.75 miles a day
Trio -- basically 1.8 miles a day

Or really any other way you want to split it up.  It doesn't need to be even, and they don't need to all be run.  Walking works, too!  And like so many people say -- walking really is the best exercise.  Scott and I plan to take Sundays off for the challenge, so that reconfigures things so that we will cover about 3.25 miles each, 6 days a week.  :)  Daunting?  Yes!  But definitely doable...so long as neither one of us starts to slip behind.   Haha.
Stay tuned as I slowly but surely unveil the rest of my New Year's goals and plans, because you know I've got some.  Hahahahaha.  {I just love resolution time!}

My aunt was trying to talk me into doing this and it scared me! I figured I would need to do a trio and have my marathon running day on my team to make up for my lack of running during the cold months. Good luck! I think it is an awesome goal.

Wow....
The part that terrifies me the most is doing the same thing on repeat for 365 (minus Sunday's)
