Preschool Girl!

Jane is officially a preschooler!  This little cutie pie was SOOO excited for her first day of school yesterday.  She laid out clothes the night before, got dressed as soon as she woke up, and even packed a lunch {despite the fact that everyone tried to tell her that she'd be eating lunch at home}.  After getting the older kids off to school, we had a busy morning doing laundry, trying to clean her bedroom, and running all around town trying to get last minute school errands done.

Our first stop of the day was at the doctor's office to pick up the filled-out emergency action plans for Grace, Sophie, and Jane to turn in to their schools.  I was happy to find they had already faxed the older two's forms to the school nurse which gave me one less thing thing to do for the day.  After grabbing Jane's papers, we headed up the street to TJ Maxx to let the preschool girl pick out her back pack, and half an hour and two backpacks later we were done!  Hahaha.  Poor little lover boy did NOT want to be left out of the backpack action.  He was having such a rough morning as it was -- I'm pretty sure he's cutting some molars -- that I had to take pity on the poor little lamb and let him get one, too. Jane managed to spy one little Mickey Mouse backpack amidst all the girlie bags and Alex was so happy about it that he scarcely let go of it all morning!

Terribly out of focus, but you get the gist.  It's a "Lalaloopsy" backpack.  A show she doesn't even watch, but she really liked how it looked.  I liked how cheap it was.

With those errands done, our morning was winding down and I had just one more stop to make at the Pharmacy before heading home to feed the kids lunch and take Jane to school.  After lunch was eaten, I decided an impromptu photo shoot was in order and attempted to get some good shots.  The end result was a bunch of mostly out of focus shots and a tardy arrival on her first day of school. Doh!  Hahahaha.  Oh well.  You win some, you lose some, right?

Jane was very insistent about 2 things for her first day of school -- having her hair in ONE braid and wearing her bumblebee shirt.  Check and check.  I always think it's so funny when kids start to have such definitive opinions about stuff.  Hahaha.  I obliged my little sugar pop in the morning by doing an extra load of laundry to clean the appointed shirt and french-braided her hair after lunch.  She was very happy on both counts.

Sweet Jane.

Ever our little space cadet.

Bumblebee!

Flowers for mom.  :)

Thankfully it wasn't too big a deal that we were late and we walked her in and got her set up in her classroom in no time.  Alex insisted on wearing his backpack, too, and it was hilarious to see him strutting down the hallway like a big boy when in fact he is so very little.  The only problem that we had, really, was when he realized he was not staying, too.  Haha.  Poor little lamb.  Perhaps that backpack signified much more to him than I realized.

In front of the school.

Painting for her first activity!

Doesn't she look so happy???  Melt my little heart.

Saying goodbye to the class bunny.

And that was that!  The 2 1/2 hours of preschool went by WAY too fast to get anything REAL accomplished, but I thoroughly enjoyed my peace and quiet {Alex was napping} while it lasted.  Once we picked Jane up, it wasn't too much longer before the older kids were walking through the door as well.  All in all, it was a GREAT day.  Jane LOVED preschool, the after-school witching hour NEVER happened, and all of the kids were really helpful and kind and responsible and pleasant.  It was the Twilight Zone.  Perhaps a blog post on that will be forthcoming.  Hahaha.  Happy Tuesday!

What a sweet girl Jessica! Big changes in this phase of your life! It looks like she will love every minute of it, and enjoy both the peace and quiet, and the one on one time with Andrew!

(its still kinda hard to think of alex as a 2 year old cruising around with a backpack! he was a baby when we saw him last.)
