Ladies and gentleman, we have finally arrived in life! As of this Labor Day, we are the proud new owners of a 2006 Honda Odyssey. When last we left off, I had slipped in a mention that our Mountaineer was completely dead. After giving it roughly 2 seconds thought, we decided it would be more worthwhile to put the money it would cost to replace the engine and transmission on our old car into a new(er) car instead. And since our mechanic told us on that Wednesday evening that the Mountaineer wasn't safe to drive AT ALL, the hunt for a new car became even more urgent and expedient.
As luck would have it, Scott had to leave EARLY the next morning to go out of town for a trip that had been scheduled for months, and I was left on my own. While he was gone, I managed to do a lot of researching and searching and by the time he got back LATE Saturday night, our list was fairly narrowed down. Scott went to go take a look at one of the options on Monday morning and after a test drive or two we decided to it was too good a deal to pass up. So we bought ourselves a minivan and the kids were beyond stoked! Hahaha. {Especially when they discovered it has a DVD player.}
All in all, even though it seemed like bad timing for our car to break down -- with Scott having to leave for a few days and me being on my own to find one plus take care of all the kids on my own -- in the end, the timing was JUST right. The 3-day Labor Day weekend gave us a little extra time to find something that worked AND provided us with a good deal on the car thanks to the holiday sales.
As I said, the kids were SUPER excited about getting a minivan. Simple pleasures, right? Hahaha.
After coming home with our "brand new" car, we decided on the spur of the moment to take it out for a spin with all of the kids for Family Home Evening. We hit up Sonic for dinner and Paradise Ice for dessert and fun times were had all around!
I had to document my signature flavor combo, right? Hahaha.
The rest of the week has been spent taking care of sick kids and "sick" kids so you can imagine how things have been. Hahaha. The nice thing about having a 3-day weekend, though, is that it also creates a 4-day work week in its wake. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!

I have the same car (well 2008) but it's the same color and everything! We love ours!
Again, Poppy, not Jesse!
Lookin good in that minivan. The kids all
Look real happy about the new purchase
first, We should have gone out for shaved ice to celebrate our new car too, darn! second, I love the family economy idea, I'm thinking my kids are starting to get old enough for this. and third, how much Harry Potter have you let your kids read? We just started reading #1 to the girls, but can't decide how far we're going to go with a 7 and 5 year old. The books get pretty scary!
