Easter Round-Up

I'm tired.  And sick.  And feeling overwhelmed with everything that needs to get done to put our house up for sale.  It is officially crunch time.  Blogging has clearly been taking a seat on the back burner.  Hahaha.  Since getting back from our Easter weekend at the cousins' house, we {I} have been desperately trying to get us back on schedule.  Unfortunately, it is not working so well.  Sleep issues  with certain children {cough * Grace * cough * Jane} continue to plague us and I am just so tired.

BUT.  Never fear -- life goes on and I know we will all be fine.  This post is not a cry for help!  Hahaha.  We had a fun Easter weekend in spite of the fact that Scott was sick for the first day we were there, Jane came down with a random fever on Saturday, and the kids were nuts and stayed up until almost midnight every single night.  The highlights of their weekend would probably include making a movie entitled "Attack of the Sea Aliens" and eating lots and lots of candy.  The only lowlight, really, was when we told them it was time to go home.  The cumulative effect of sleep deprivation and sugar shock really reared it's head on the last day and by Easter afternoon we had a melting down melange of monsters.  They're so adorable when they get that way!  {Not.}  Hahahaha.

For your viewing pleasure, I'll separate the pictures into 3 categories -- Sam's Bike Safety Demonstration, Easter Egg Hunting, and Happy Hoppy Easter!

  •  Sam's Bike Safety Demonstration
While we were there, my nephew Sam was under the gun to finish up his Senior project.  I happily volunteered my crew to help him out.  Between my kids and Kristin's, we had a veritable crowd for Sam to enthrall with his wisdom and knowledge on Bike Safety and maintenance.  Hahaha.  At least, it started OUT as a crowd.  By the time his demo was coming to a close only Sophie and Jonah were still tuning in.  Oh well -- at least I got a lot of good pictures for him!

It's Sofia the First!

Cute little Sophie and Jonah still eagerly hanging on.

  • Easter Egg Hunting
A good, old-fashioned Easter Egg Hunt is ALWAYS a hit with our kids.  I found some super adorable, football-shaped Easter Eggs to throw in with the regular variety and they were a hit with the little Lover Boy!  This was his first year participating in the Hunt and he caught on rather quickly to the fact that there was some good stuff in those eggs.

They gave the Lover Boy a 30 second head start.  He made it to the bottom of the stairs before they unleashed their fury.  Hahaha.

Action shot!  It always amazes me how even the older kids go crazy for an egg hunt.

Hahahaha.  This shot kills me.

So excited about those footballs!

Relaxing on the hammock while digging into the candy.

  • Happy Hoppy Easter
Easter morning was not quite the hit I was hoping for.  Apparently we've set the bar too high in seasons past, and Grace in particular was a bit disgruntled with her lack of loot.  Boo hoo hoo!  Hahaha.  All of the kids were in pretty terrible moods by the time we left for church and when we informed them all that we'd be leaving after sacrament meeting to get on the road early enough to make it home by bedtime, they all went from bad to worse.  Oh well!  At least I got some cute pictures of the girls before the storming began.  Hahaha.

Every single year we've gone to Indiana for Easter, I've forgotten the baskets.  This year Wal-mart was completely wiped clean the night before, so gift bags did the trick!

A ball!  With robots on it!

This face sums up her Easter morning experience.  Hahaha.  The ironic thing is that she really does actually love this scarf and has worn it almost every day since she got it.

I'm not sure what was going on with him this morning.

Nerds!

Oh Sophie.

Always up for a pose or two.

Isn't she a little angel.  Hahaha.

BFFs for life.  Word.

Oh Grace.

They were really tickled pink about having matching Easter outfits courtesy of the Gap outlet.

Oh Jane.

Poor little lover boy.  Not so happy.

Cute little Jane and Jonah.

Scooter girls.

Who is this child?  Hahaha.

Oh Alex.

This was the best Easter shot I got of the kids.  Scratch that -- this is the ONLY group shot I got of the kids.  Lame sauce.

Not a happy camper.  She did NOT want to leave.

All in all, it was a weekend to remember.  Now that we're back home, though, it is time to get to work! The goal is to have the house ready to sell by the end of the month.  So, if you don't hear from me a whole lot from now until then, you'll know the reason why.  Wish us all luck!

Loved this post and all the pics. Especially the Easter green skirt pic of grace posing with her arms crossed above her head! Lol! Alex is such a toddlah!
And seeing graces face of unenthusiastic disappointment with her Easter loot totally reminds me of what I must have looke like plenty of times growing up! So sorry mom if you're reading this! I appreciate all the nice things you did for us kids!! Love ya!

And the lack of sleep biz... I'm there too. And we are still recovering from day light savings scheduling issues :-( ugh! But- life goes on and it'll be all good...

Totally forgot you're moving! Ugh crazy sauce ;) good luck keeping house clean !!

i've kind of been forgetting about the fact that we're moving, too! aaaahhhh! i've kind of just been in denial. it was so hard last time around when we were moving here that i've been blocking it all out. hopefully, it will be better this time around since the kids are all older and more helpful. in theory. hahaha.
