Sophie is still not a great sleeper, but we're getting by. For the last month I've been sleeping on the couch with the swing right next to me because its the only thing she'll stay asleep in during the night. Every week or so I've tried moving us back to the bedroom, but she just won't stay asleep in the bassinet and we both get less sleep as a result. So for now, its sofa city, sweetheart (5 points for whoever gets that reference). Anyway, I'm thinking that perhaps she might have a little acid reflux thing going on, seeing as to how she spits up ALL the time and gets a little fussy in the evenings every now and then. She also has eczema which has flared up really bad on her face lately and I think it itches or something because she's always rubbing at it. Anyway, since Scott was allergic to everything when he was a kid I'm just assuming she probably will have problems with it as well. For now I've cut dairy from my diet to see if that helps, and its probably too soon to be scientific about it, but her face is looking MUCH better today.
Sadly I don't have too many other stories to relate. Mostly because my memory is completely shot and I don't really remember if anything entertaining or newsworthy has happened lately!
I'll post some of my favorite pictures from the last month, and maybe that will spark the memories.
And finally, here are the gratuitous shots of the kids in their new Easter outfits:
Okay, I'm so mad because I had the funniest picture of Ethan that kept uploading sideways and I couldn't get it to rotate right side up. Has anyone else had problems with that?
Well, I still don't have any stories for you, but I'll close with the following:
For those of you who don't know, Grace is a collector of junk. Every night at bedtime we go through the same bit.
Me (in reference to her crib): Grace, you've got too much junk
Grace (in a wounded puppy voice): I love my junk!
Tonight, after she was asleep, I decided it was finally time to clean it out. The above picture is the result. Here is a list of all that was in there:
4 blankets
8 stuffed animals -- ranging in size from small to large
2 care bears
a couple of pairs of socks
1 naked cabbage patch doll and her outfit
1 hand puppet
Ribbit's Cinderella outfit
1 purse
a baby doll
4 board books
a pair of sunglasses
a princess brush and mirror set
1 fuzzy princess dress-up high heel
an empty crayon box
her princess backpack (containing ANOTHER care bear, "yellow dog," and 3 more books)
1 toy cell phone
a plastic coin from her piggy bank
and the plastic bag she used for an easter egg hunt on Thursday (along with several empty plastic eggs and the few unwanted candy items)
oh and 1 sippy cup.
There you have it. Please don't turn me in to the Child Protection Services.
**UPDATE**
Okay, so I just took Grace's crib mattress out so I could wash her sheets, and I discovered even MORE junk:
crayons
2 baggies of snacks
several more pairs of socks
a plastic comb and lipstick from the princess set she got for her birthday
a bracelet
more loose candy
2 more stuffed animals
and THIRTEEN hair clippies -- which solves the mystery of where they've all disappeared to
And I must add that Grace was VERY upset with me this morning when she discovered I cleaned out her crib.
Have a great day!

I think your reference is from "Sixteen Candles". Am I right?!?!?
I can NOT believe Grace had all that junk in her crib!! That's amazing. I wonder how she was ever able to actually sleep?
And loved the Easter photos. You guys have such darling kids Jess. Good luck hanging in there the next few weeks until Scott's out of school. When's the big move planned?
5 points for natalie!
and i have no idea how she manages to sleep with all that junk in her crib. i believe we have a budding pack rat on our hands!
the big move is scheduled for may 10th. thats when we'll be flying out. i'm so glad we're not driving, i can't even EXPLAIN. as long as our application was approved, we actually have our housing lined up, so i'm getting pretty excited. how far a drive is it to atlanta??
I didn't get the reference. I guess I haven't watched that movie enough.
That is pretty funny about the junk. I loved the conversation. And Ethan looks like he knows what he is doing with the remote. Why do men always have it when sitting next to girls? Hmmm.
Hurray for another semester under your belt. Graduation time is always so exciting. Doug graduates in June! I bet that feels good. Sorry to hear about your sleepless little baby. That takes a toll on you and your patience. Hang in there. And hope you guys had a Happy Easter!
I think I can quote that whole movie straight through.
I am glad you are hanging in there. I have been thinking about you. I wish I was close so I could take your kids to play.
My kids had bad eczema when we were there. And especially as littl babies. You probably know this but just in case. Anything containing soap in it will make it flair up. Basically everything except those hypoallergenic dove bars. All the baby stuff has it. You will know if it says sulfate in the ingredients. Also Aveeno lotion (fragrance free) helped a lot.
Grace's hair looks so sophisticated in the easter pictures. Very lovely, did you give her a trim? It looks very even and stylish. I was thinking today that it might be fun to get a short summer cut, like I did 2 summers ago? do you remember at jazz fest?
anyways, the kids look so stinkin sute as usual, and I'm glad i could see the latest pictures of little sweet Sophie.
Hang in there... auntie Em is on her way...
did i tell you I will likely be in Kaua'i the same week I come to Utah? I'm trying to see if my work will just fly me straight from Hawaii to SLC on Wednesday. The flight would leave at like 6:30 am and get into SLC at like 9:45pm. The thought of that day just gives me a headache... ahhh!!!
hope you have a great day with the kiddos! love ya!
Too funny! Her crib matches our couch. I was excited to see an update. I was wondering where you had been! :) Sophie looks huge, even from the last time I saw her. Too cute!
grace is very funny. reagan is also a budding pack rat. we have to say goodnight to a menagerie of animals each night and a few balls and sometimes my special blanket and daddy's belt. someone thomas works with(a brand new parent and baby expert, no less) was *shocked* that we "allowed" reagan to sleep like that for fear of a suffocation hazzard. all i have to say is that at least reagan would die happy! morbid? perhaps...
i love your cute little kids!! they are absolutely adorable. i will be so sad when we dont live so close...oh well i'll just have to seize the day., right? love ya!
Jessica I love your stories, even though those things probably caused much work and stress. The crib is so classic! Maybe I'll check under the mattress of my girls' beds and see if that is where all their missing junk is!
I can't believe all the stuff Grace had in her crib, that's hilarious!
I LOVE Grace's hair in the Easter picture, and her red shoes, where did you get the red shoes?? All of then look so cute and so well put together. I'm impressed.
Hang in there, I know about having an absent husband due to school schedule....we're experiencing the same thing right now, except that I have 2 kids and no infant. I imagine that someday you'll either look back on this time and marvel that you made it through, or you won't look back at all because you'll have no memory of it, due to lack of sleep! Good luck!
i can't believe all of the junk! how or where did she sleep with all of that in there? that is so hilarious! i'm glad you are surviving. i'm getting really kind of nervous for #3 to come along. i hope we are ready!
What a cute smile that little Sophie has! I'm sorry she isn't a good sleeper. I about had it after one week of Ellie being a horrible sleeper but luckily it went away!
And I hear you on the reflux. Ellie has it and we've been trying different meds but so far nothing is really helping so far. I just make sure I have tons and tons of burp cloths washed and ready at all times and prepare to change my outfit and hers lots!
Glad to finally see another post!
Oh my! The crying baby reflux thing went through it with Preston. Sleep deprivation is a terrible thing. It ends. I so love my sleep.
Jessica...the kids are so cute! Little baby Sophie is precious.
I like the Grace-Attitude photo.
Okay, you made me laugh with the "I love my junk." Also amused by the treasure of only ONE high heel.
