Time to Go Back to School

Alright!  Does it count to call it being on a roll if I'm only on the second of 5 posts that I want to make happen today?  {insert thinking face emoji}  Hahaha.  With the first semester almost over, it's kind of fun to look back on the very start of the school year.  You know, back when it was (almost) sort of exciting to be back in school.  Lol.  In actuality, I don't think ANYONE was overly excited for school to start back up this year.

The First Day kicked off in two phases -- first, with the boys leaving for school and then, the girls.  And...I apparently didn't get any pictures of all 4 of them together before they skedaddled.  Doh!  I'll place the blame squarely on the girls who took a LOT longer to get ready than the boys. 😜

The Boys

Isaac is apparently in his doesn't-know-how-to-smile-on-demand-for-pictures era.

Isaac -- First Day of 2nd Grade

(He REALLY wanted me to get this shot of him.  He's enamored of this "pose" for some reason.  Hahaha.)

(You've gotta love teachers who go the extra mile for you.)

The Girls

Jane -- First Day of 9th Grade

Sophie -- First Day of 11th Grade

So, that's how it all started!  How's it going 3 1/2 months in?  Well, it's going mostly okay!  After a very rough first day for Jane (basically she had no friends in any of her classes or lunch period, and thus HATED it), the second day was much, much better.  The school alternates between A days and B days, and for Jane, the Bs are far more preferable.  She loves taking French (bucking the trend from the rest of the family who took Spanish for their foreign language) and she loves her Algebra class.  And now that she's finally been officially diagnosed with ADHD and is on meds for it, she's excelling in English and Social Studies as well -- and she's got the straight A's to prove it!  Woo hoo!  Hahaha.  Sophie and Jane are actually both taking Child Development for one of their electives, and I think they've really enjoyed being together in the same class for their last period everyday.   Alex surprised us all when he signed up for Orchestra at the end of last school year, but I am 100% loving the fact that he's learning to play the cello now in junior high.  Being in a new school this year was a little anxiety-inducing for him in the beginning, but he has quickly learned the lay of the land and is doing just fine now that he's in full swing.  As for Isaac, he's super excited that his best friend is in his class again this year and he loves his teacher.

And that's a wrap!  Next up?  Grace goes to college...
