Baptism Day

Alex was baptized this past Saturday.  Making things extra special was the fact that it was also his Uncle Freddie's birthday (and his cousin Molly's) AND he got to be baptized with one of his very best friends from church!  {Although obviously not baptized at the EXACT same time.}  We were lucky enough to have Scott's parents come into town for his special day and we've been able to enjoy having them here for a few extra days as well.  :)

{Isaac's little facial expressions are absolutely slaying me in this animation.}

The service itself was lovely, and I was relieved and impressed that Alex was able to sit mostly reverently and quietly throughout the program.  This is actually the first time any of our kids have shared a baptism day someone else, and it was a delight!  Sharing the responsibilities for the music and the talks and the refreshments made things so much easier and less stressful than previous baptisms have been.  It was really nice!

When it came time for the actual baptizing, Alex was so excited he apparently jumped off the stairs and into the water in the font.  {I would say that the ultimate emotion of the day for him was excitement.}  And on the flip side, when it came time for his confirmation, I was so relieved and impressed once again that he sat so reverently and took things so seriously when I was worried he would be too wound up and silly.  It's always nice when your children pleasantly surprise you.  Hahaha.

Once the program was over, we enjoyed some delicious refreshments (including our traditional CTR sugar cookies) and managed to take a few good family pictures as well.  The rest of our day was spent in a leisurely and relaxing kind of way and much to Alex's delight, I finally relented in the end and let him pick out a present from Target to commemorate his day.  Because nothing says commemoration like Pokemon cards.  Hahahaha.

Alex and Keleni!

All in all it was a day to remember!  The only thing that kept me from feeling like it was a total success is that we forgot to order new, "real" scriptures for Alex (like we've done for all the others for their baptisms) and even more sadly, I haven't been able to make him his baptism quilt because I no longer have a working sewing machine.  Doh!  Hopefully, he won't hold it against me that we didn't have these two items at the ready for his special day.  ;)

I feel like Alex looks so much older in that baptism photo! Can't believe he's already 8. I still think of him as one of your toddlers. Haha!

Looking at this again, I noticed Ethan's Patriarchal Blessing. Great blessing!

When you posted the pic on Instagram I had to do a double take bc I my brain first thought it was Jane’s baptism. Can’t believe ALEX is 8!! Glad it was such a nice day! And yeah I agree sharing the baptism day makes it so much easier. I’m always so surprised when people hate the idea and put up a fight to have their own day. Anyway love y’all!
