Not a Prank

In case you didn't know it, today is April Fool's day.  Not that we have EVER really celebrated it in our house, but for some reason yesterday Grace got it into her head to torment Alex (and possibly others) with what kind of pranks she was going to pull today.  Thankfully, she didn't end up following through with any of that, but pranks were at the forefront of everyone else's mind this afternoon.  So, perhaps it's no wonder that when I called home this afternoon and told Sophie that I had gotten into a car accident while going to pick up Ethan and Grace from school she didn't believe me at first and thought I was trying to trick her for April Fool's.

Unfortunately, it was NOT a prank.  Fortunately, as far as accidents go, this one was a best case scenario.  No one was hurt, I didn't have anyone else with me in the car, and after I got hit I was able to pull right in to a CVS parking lot and stay out of the way of any other traffic.  The good news is that I was obviously not at fault (this poor old lady was turning left out of the parking lot and either didn't see me or saw me too late and ended up sideswiping me on the tail end of the car).  The bad news is that it hit the back wheel in just the right spot that it seems to have bent the axle and the car is not currently drivable.  We'll see what the insurance company makes of all of that, but for now I'm just grateful that I'm okay and that Scott was close enough and able to pick up Ethan and Grace from school and then swing back around to get ME before heading home.  It's been an eventful evening!  Let's hope that tomorrow will be a little less so.

(It was a little jarring when ALL of the passenger side airbags deployed.)

Ah! I'm so sorry! That was a little crazy for me to see because we have the same van as you. Glad you are okay and hope everything gets fixed super fast.

Also, I was thinking how nice it is that Scott works so close to home now. This would have been different in Ohio, right?
