A First Time for Everything

Boy is there a LOT to catch up on!  We've had spring break festivities, a visit from Granny Nanny, a trip to the cousins, and Conference weekend to boot.  It will take some time to recap all of that, so for tonight, I thought I'd recap a few firsts -- both for Isaac and for ME.  :)

The first, first? Well, after 36 years I decided it was finally time to attempt to learn how to drive a stick shift.  I figured it would be useful if I were able to drive Scott's car should I ever need to.  Hahaha.  So, after putting the younger three in bed last Thursday night, we left the older three in charge while we drove to a school parking lot up the street for me to try and learn some skillz.  And you know what?  I wasn't a total failure!!  Hahahaha.  So that's reassuring.  Sure, I stalled out a few times, but I did better than I was expecting, and I believe Scott was pleasantly surprised as well.  :)   Of course, I will need a LOT more practice before I'm ready to go out on the open road, but I don't think I'm a lost cause.

 Before the lesson...

...and after.

And now on to Isaac's big firsts!  In the last week, he has tried his first solid food (avocado), SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT (7:30 PM - 6:30 AM), and sat in the buggy like a big boy when we went to Costco this afternoon.  He can also now roll from his stomach to his back (although I haven't seen it in action yet) and we're practicing his sitting skillz.  It's hard to believe he'll be 5 months old this Sunday and we're only a month away from being half a year old!  Time is flying by.

"What the heck is this? Never mind, I don't care -- just keep it coming!"

 Seconds before a face plant.

And that's a wrap.  I've been under the weather, so I'm going to take advantage of all the kids being in bed by going to sleep early myself.  Stay tuned for more catching up...

I read all of your great words but once I read that Isaac slept through the night, everything was just a blur. Because that is just the best news ever, and I'm so happy for you. May it continue to happen!
