Look how young we are!
Apparently Emily and Sarah were up there as well. And apparently we couldn't pass up an opportunity for a sisters shot. Hahaha.
And one more just for kicks. Mostly because I think Scott looks so adorable here with his swagger face on. Hahahahahaha. And because I'm really rocking those wedge sandals that belonged to my roommate and that pink dress which belonged to either the same roommate or another one. {Natalie? Heidi? Whose was it??? Oh how I miss the days of a communal closet!}
This conference was a significant one for me because it was on this Sunday afternoon that I first KNEW that I loved Scott. Never mind the fact that we'd only been dating about a week and a half -- as I sat there listening to one of the talks that session it just hit me -- I loved him. I was sensible enough not to lean over and say something to him at the time, but I knew it was only a matter of time before I uttered those big and fateful words. Thank goodness when I did, he didn't run kicking and screaming away from me.
So here we are 12 years later, still in love, and experiencing conference in a whole new way. Nothing says peace and enlightenment like trying to listen to talks with 5 children underfoot. All in various stages of open rebellion against being forced to watch hours and hours of church meetings when there are so many other things they'd rather be doing. Hahahaha.
In reality, we actually had a really nice weekend. {For the most part.} I decided this time around that I would rather be able to LISTEN to conference on Saturday than try to make children watch, too, so I gave them free reign to watch what they wanted in another room while I cozied up on the couch in the family room and listened to most of the Saturday morning session by myself while Scott was with Ethan at soccer. And on Sunday morning, we continued our now semi-annual tradition of inviting friends over for a big breakfast feast {complete with powdered donuts for Sophie and our traditional homemade cinnamon rolls for everyone else} after doing lots and lots of yard work and house prep the day before to make everything ready and respectable for finally having company over!
We all enjoyed the breakfast and the company, and everything should have been smooth sailing for the rest of the day, but that wouldn't have been very realistic now would it have? Hahaha. A certain second born child decided it was time to make her presence known once again. To be fair, we haven't had many major issues with her lately. However, Scott was gone half of last week for a recruiting trip to BYU, and I think the change in our norm put her on the fritz. It literally took us an hour to get through the first talk of the morning session because of her meltdown drag out fit of not wanting to watch conference because she wanted to watch the new episodes of Jessie and ANT Farm instead. Once that fit had rained itself out, the rest of the day was spent with her (and the others at various times) vacillating back and forth between flat out crazy town and normal. Fun times!
All in all it was a weekend to remember. Ha! Here's to hoping that in six months time, when April conference rolls around, we'll be able to watch in peace. :)

That pink and white dress was mine. And I'm pretty sure those sandals were Heidi's. I miss communal closets as well!
As far as Conference goes, single/childless/people with grown children don't know how easy they have it!
to be that skinny (and tan) again...
