He's Had a Birthday Shout Hooray!

The big day has come and gone and our baby is now 2!  We had originally decided to wait and celebrate his birthday on Saturday -- so we could have more time to do it justice -- but in the end, the kids were too excited and you know how bad this family is at delayed gratification.  Hahaha.  A few trips to the store for cake mix and then ice cream and presents and we were all set to go!

A present from Grandma had come a few days before and we managed to wait until his actual day before ripping into it!

And he LOVED it!

The theme for this year's party {and his whole life, really} was sports, so he ended up with a baseball cake, sports of all sorts wrapping paper, and a whole bunch of balloons as well.  Because he loves balloons just as much as balls.  Ethan baked the cake this year -- all on his own I might add {although I did do the decorating} -- and each of the kids picked him out something special at Target in a trip {at the end of the day} that took WAY too long and ended up costing just a tad bit more than I had planned.  The story of my life.

{One of my simplest cakes EVER.  SO easy for looking so legit.}

By the time we got home from that errand, Scott was home from work not too much later and we ate a quick dinner before starting our festivities.  Alex was SUPER excited about the cake, and the kids were SUPER excited to give him "their" presents.  The T-Ball set with bat and ball were as big a hit as we knew they would be, but the sleeper hit for 2nd place was the pack of  pacifiers that I had tossed in the buggy at the last minute before we left the store.  Hahahaha.  He practically wouldn't let them go for the rest of the evening, having both in his mouth at the same time at various points in the night.  He even took all of them to bed with him when it was time go, along with his elephant (of course) and the two new doggie junks that Grace and Sophie picked out for him.  All in all it was a good day.

 Just hanging out waiting for the party to begin.

 He's been going around every day since Scott's birthday on Friday saying, "Happy Birthday!"  He got a huge kick out of everyone singing to HIM.

 First attempt at blowing out the candles was a no-go.

 So were the third and fourth.  Luckily dad was there to help him out!

 Yay!

 Look how cute they both are, peering into the bag like they don't both know what we just bought at the store.  Hahahaha.

So excited about that bat!

 Batter up...

 ...and Whack!

 Bedtime in his new jammies with both pluggies in his mouth.  :)

Two years has gone by mighty quick.  We are so happy Alex is a part of our family and can't even imagine life without him.

What would we do without our Lover Boy???

He looks SO adorable in all of these pictures! I love the cake you made and the sports theme is perfect for him. Everybody look so happy and I wish we could all be together for the celebrations around there. The house and yard look good too. Hugs to sweet Alex and the gang. I miss you.
