The 4th of July was really great. A BYU MBA alum who works with Scott at P&G invited us over to his house for a BBQ with a few other people from work and church. It was really nice to get out of the apartment and sort of see what could be down the road for us in a few years. There were kids everywhere and the absolute BEST salmon I've ever had. Trent (the BYU alum) had just gone fishing the week before (oh, in ALASKA) and he shared a bunch of the fresh salmon and halibut he caught. The kids absolutely loved it. Ethan brought his "new" bike and rode it around the cul-de-sac all night and both Ethan and Grace really loved their sparklers. Well, Grace loved the sparkler until she grabbed the wrong end of the sparkler and gave herself a nice blister burn on her hand. In typical Grace fashion though, she was fine 10 minutes later and showing it off to everybody. Sadly, no picture. But we do have other pictures, first of us on the way to the BBQ and then of the kids with the sparklers, pre-burning incident.
So Grace decided to further blur the lines between fantasy and reality by becoming Annie. Apparently being called Annie, wearing the same red dress every day for over a week and singing "Tomorrow" (which I have now downloaded for her off of iTunes) non-stop isn't enough. So Friday night, me and Grace stayed in while the boys went putt-putt golfing. Scott picked up some foam curlers for her hair. I wasn't entirely positive that they would work with her thin, scraggly hair, but we had a pajama party and we gave it a shot. She wanted "red, curly hair, just like Annie," but she had to settle for curly. Well, you can check the pictures yourself, but she sort of had to settle for sort of curly. Kind of a cross between Justin Guarini and Sideshow Bob, with a little Annie mixed in on the side.
And we can't forget little Sophie. We've actually moved her into our closet now to provide even more of a "sound barrier" for the neighbors -- and it is working so far! Our little Supermuppet is starting to get a better sleep schedule ... during the day. However, thanks to the neverending cold that is circulating through the kids, she still wakes up all night and now has picked up an oh-so-attractive cough that would make a chain smoker cringe. She's still really cute though, even if she does wake up literally all night long.

She is a darling Annie. I'm glad you got out for the holiday. Both mine were up all night also. I hope it gets better soon for you.
I loved the Brady Bunch shots in the car. I was cracking up when I saw the "after" shots of Annie's curly hair!!! HAHAHA She looked happier than Christmas. Cinccinnatti (do you think I have enough conconants in there?) looks like a totally cool city, and really want to come visit.
Oh! to have a girl.
love the annie hair. i always sort of liked miss hannigan. that was her name right? and i am embarassed to say that it was VERY recent when i discovered what the name daddy warbucks meant.
i can totally see annie. and there is nothing wrong with a closet baby. mya spent a lot of the summer we were at notre dame with her in the closet of our room. and if it makes you feel better, when we visit jake's parents, she usually would sleep in the bathroom. hey a seperate room is a seperate room.
Made me smile.....all of it!
Annie was my favorite movie as a little girls as well. I can totally relate to wanting to look like Annie as a little girl. So cute and fun.
oh boy!! I'd be in big trouble if the ice cream place was down the street from me!!! Your kids are so cute and glad to see a picture of scott. i guess he is alive after all! Oh and I love Grace's hair.
Girl, you have some cute kiddos! Grace's ice cream looks really yummy. Is the blue outside really sweet?
And she is precious as Annie. I especially liked the curlers. You are one cool mama!
Thanks for updating. You've almost inspired me to do the same!
I love Grace trying to be Annie. So cute!! And I love the ice cream place. It reminds me of the original Iceberg in Salt Lake City (before they built the one in Provo). When I was little my family would go to the Iceberg every Monday night in the summer (until we moved up to Washington).
Grace's curly hair is hilarious, your kids all look darling on the 4th, and Sophie looks SO great. Her skin looks perfect, which, I imagine, is helping her feel better too. Sounds like your 4th was fun!
I love your little Annie. If I find red Halloween hair spray I'm totally sending it your way. Soo cute. That blue dipped cone looks fabulous as well! I love crazy good ice cream hole-in-the walls.
Looks like you guys are settling in already. I am laughing about the hair, that is just too cute.
Have you seen Harry Potter yet?? We loved it. ANd you can bet I will be lining up tomorrow night at midnight for the book :)
How's Harry Potter doing?? I assume you are consumed with Harry Potter and that is why there is no new post this weekend!!
Jessica,
I haven't had a chance to look at your blogspot until now. Wow Lots of good stuff. I can't believe how big Sophie is, and you gotta love the Grace hair. It sounds like you are super busy. I am keeping myself busy also. If you would like to see the photos of the boys check our our website at www.dropshots.com/mcintire. I hope all is well. Talk to you later. Love Joanna McIntire
