Free at Last, Free at Last

Hallelujah, I'm free at last! My bedresting days are officially over. I had my doctor's appointment yesterday and he released me from my housebound prison. I can't even describe how ecstatic I am. Thank you so much to all of you who offered suggestions of how to stay entertained, and especially to all of you helped out by taking the kids for me! I wanted to give a special shout out to my number 1 favorite sister (hahaha) Emily for sending me my very own Good Mail package. She sent me the hook up with several issues of my favorite celebrity tabloid magazines, as well as some conversation hearts (the candy), and some cute clothes for baby Sophie.

In retrospect, the time actually passed by pretty quickly, although each day seemed like it was a week long. The kids have pretty much been watching TV all day long for the last 2 weeks. So, we're gonna need to break that habit real soon. In other news, Ethan has finally caught on to the fun that is picking on a little sister. Grace has 3 stuffed animals that she is VERY attached to -- Doggie (a white dog), Puppy (a pink dog), and Ribbit (her stuffed frog from the Build a Bear workshop birthday outing). Ethan's new favorite thing to do is to grab one of her animals from her and then run away with it laughing maniacally the whole time. Grace gives the desired response by freaking out and chasing after him trying in vain to get it back. Its been lots of fun.

The irony is that right before going on bedrest they were actually starting to play together really well and nicely with each other and I was really excited thinking that perhaps they would continue to do so once the baby was here. I guess that was just wishful thinking. They still CAN play nicely together, but they're also at each other's throats half the time. Here is my favorite exchange from today. Ethan was doing something to bother Grace and she came crying to me and Scott saying that Ethan was bugging her, so I told her to tell him to stop. Here is what they said:

Grace -- (yelling) "Don't bug me!"

Ethan -- (yelling back) "You just can't worry about that!"

Huh? What does that even mean?

Anyway, I don't really have anything too exciting to report after my first full day back in the swing of things. However, since today I'm exactly 4 weeks away from my due date, I thought I'd follow in the footsteps of my friend Heidi and offer up a contest with actual prizes for the winners (well, as long as I know your address so I can send you something). I'll make it a 2 part contest for whoever guesses closest to the actual birth date and weight of the baby.

Now onto my reality TV commentary for the day. I know many of you out there watch American Idol. So here is my question. What is up with Paula Abdul this season? Seriously, all she does is make weird or crazy faces at the camera and she's making even less sense with her comments than usual. As far as the "talent" this year, I'm always really annoyed by all the bad singers they show. I wish they'd show more of the good singers. That being said, my early favorite is that teenage girl who was training to be an opera singer but skipped out to audition for the show. I LOVED her. I thought she was hilarious, and I hope she does well. Somehow I doubt she'll make it past the Hollywood round, but I thought she had so much personality I'm still holding out hope. Other favorites include the Jack Osborne look-alike who said he wanted to make David Hasselhof cry and the revolutionary-looking guy with the long hair and beard.

In closing I'll post a picture of how Grace utilizes her Mr. Potato Head set she got for Christmas.

That's all folks!

Yeah! I am so happy for you.
So my kids do the same thing but it is K who torments L for the desired response. Must just be a boy thing.

I will guess 6pounds 4 ounces
and February 16th

Maybe she'll be a valentine baby, oh that's my guess instead because it would be so fun with the whole conversation heart thing, yeah, that's my guess Feb. 14th! <3

ok, so sorry. She will weigh in at 7 lbs. 14 oz. The 7 lbs. because we're in the year 2007, and the 14 oz. because that is going to be her birthdate! <3 <3 <3 <3

That picture of Grace is hilarious! I love the ears!.

Regarding the game, I will need some additional information before issuing my guess. How early/late were you with Ethan, and Grace? How big were both, and how big were you and Scott?

I'm glad you're off bedrest and feeling better. I wish I'd thought to send you a great care package, like you did for me right before Ryan's transplant. That made my day! I can see how you were so excited to get one from your cute sister!

okay, here are some more vital statistics. ethan was induced at 39 weeks due to my polyhydramnios, and he weighed in at 8 lbs even. grace was born at 39 weeks (no inducing that time) and was 7 lbs 12 oz. i believe i was born a week early and weighed 6 lbs 15 oz (although i was the first -- my baby sister weighed 10 lbs 6 oz.). and scott was somewhere in the 9 lb range. hope that helps!

by the way, i'm loving all the early due dates. i'm keeping my fingers crossed thats for sure!

I was so glad to read you are off bed rest. You are in the homestretch now- best of luck! Also, I just have to agree with you about American Idol- First I am convinved Paula is drunk all the time and second, the show has gone from a singing competition to some sort of a freak show. I'm wondering if there is just no good talent left.

oops, sorry for that random "hey." i'm guessing feb 18, 7 lbs 15 oz. don't know why on the date, and that is what nathaniel weighed. i'm not a good guesser.

in response to your AI comments, i tell ya, girl, this is a frustrating season so far! i was thinking they could wrap up the auditions in about 2 shows with a best and worst and spare us all the torture. i don't even have any favorites yet, which stinks b/c i "called it" for katharine and carrie as soon as i saw them audition. (i know kat didn't win, but close enough.) anyway, i'm tired of the same goofiness and not getting to see any of the real people. i want to skip auditions altogether except i'm afraid i'll miss something. and as for paula, she has always driven me nuts on here. she's drunk, seriously. as mean as simon is, he's the only judge i can stand. have you noticed how randy won't ever assert an opinion of his own? he waits until he can tell which way the others will go before he commits. well, sorry to go so long - guess i think i'm writing an email, not a post!

it's me again...can you tell me how you guys put the links to others' blogs on yours? i tried and failed; i am not an accomplished blogger...

feb 20. 8 lbs even. that was my "gut" reaction. but now that i've typed it i want to put feb. 27, but that is just to cover my mental bases, my real guess is the 20th.
emily, i really like us weekly too. i'm just saying...

oh, and i don't think paula is drunk. i think she is addicted to pills. i think more contestants would mention an alcohol smell if she were drunk. pills=scent free!

and paula just is in love with any guy that can sing. she really is acting so loopy! i can't believe they'll have more auditions next week. come on now! let's move things along here. and why don't they show the good singers. last night i think they showed like maybe 3!?! what's up with that?

and for the guessing game...feb. 21st and 7lbs 4 oz.

february 22nd most def! 8 pounds 8 ounces...i'm all about number repetition.

What a nice sister you have!! I'm glad you are off bedrest.

My prediction - February 18th and she'll be 8 pounds 2 ounces. I'm just going to be upset if you have her before I have mine! lol

And I'm with you on American Idol! I enjoy the funny and bad ones but they didn't show hardly any of the good ones and that was annoying. I actually really liked the guy that wanted to make David Hasselhoff cry also. I heard the guy from Reagan Idol (the navy guy) doesn't make it . .. .

Yippee! So glad you are free again.

I have been watching A.I. too. I always thought Paula had and still has an obnoxious clap. I mostly pay attention to Simon's face the most--I love his bloody honesty. It cracks me up. My favorites were the two back up singers that audtioned (they were different nights) I did enjoy the rainbow (opera girl too) and the Jack Ozborne look alike was great.

Good luck with the tormenting--umm I have 4 of those. There are good and bad days for sure :)

Awesome package from Emily!!
My guess is February 20th-- 7lbs 9oz Mardi Gras baby!!
